Death by Glue Gun.....And a SUPER Surprise!

Well not really...but it sure felt like it...UGH!

Here is the culprit....or should I say the little clear stick that rests inside.  See it hiding in there.  All I was doing was minding my own business...making a little sumthin for Easter and it got me.

It was that green one...that was the one that decided to slip out of my hand right after I put a huge glob of piping hot glue on it...yup you guessed it....my instinct was to grab the little green egg as if it were a fragile thing waiting to hit the counter top and splatter into a million pieces.  OUCH.................

That glue hit my finger and dried faster than ever before.  Why does it not dry that fast when I put my eggs on??  THE PAIN.....

Please let me go through child birth.....it hurt more than that...NOT KIDDING!!  Thank goodness my grandchildren weren't there because I said a few choice words.....All for this lovely.....

It was worth it...I think....

I saw this wreath on a wonderful blog that I so can't remember who...so if you see this "wonderful crafty blogger" I thank you very much.  It looks so pretty on my door...even though I thought I was going to lose my finger *wink*

This Lil Piggy Went To Market

This Lil Piggy stayed home......

Anyone who knows me (and I know your just getting to know me) knows (yeah I said know again) that I adore pigs!  I can't remember when my love affair with the little pink cuties started...someone gave me one and then BAM....

They make me smile......

Even squeel when I see one I love......

Don't they look like they want to snuggle up next to you and be your forever friends??

Most of the piglets that aren't packed away from the move are housed in the kitchen....and I've gotten very picky with my pink friends.

These little porkers I bought as a gift for Emeril....I was going to a food network show and just wanted to meet Emeril and have him sign my cookbook!  I was so excited until we got downtown and hadn't bought tickets first and the line was all the way to East Bumble....needless to say we did not meet Emeril, have the book signed or give him the piggies...sigh....

So sweet.......

Porcelain porcine cutie sitting in vintage depression (I think it is anyway) glass.

Little clay Oinker that my granddaughter made me with the help of Poppy Rick.

And these Lil Piggies went......wheeeeeee, wheeeeee, wheeeeee....all the way home!

Can You Spell Tired.....

E X H A U S T E D.....

I can't believe how tired I am..my weekend has been packed with driving and more driving and more driving.  But at least it should be the last long trip to Virginia except for maybe a pleasure trip.

So since it was our "last" trip we took the camera to try to document some of the sights we have traveled past for the last...gosh...umpteen years.

Look how green everything is getting!  My parents have property down in VA near Chincoteague Island.  It really is beautiful there.  We're in Pennsylvania so we had to travel through a small portion of PA, into Delaware through a good portion of that state and into Maryland then we hit VA.  There are chicken farms everywhere...and for anyone who's never had the pleasure of driving past chicken farms...PEE UUUUUUU!!  Not the most pleasent smell!

Poppy Rick was the photographer for this trip (who am I kidding...he's the picture taker for all trips because I'm a control freak and have to drive everywhere..)  Alot of our pics were taken on the fly while driving and through closed windows!

I just loved this barn!  The house is huge....

They never tear down buildings...they are just left to rot to nothing...but I have to admit I love looking at the broke down things.  I try to imagine what they must have looked like back when.

Little towns you go through with buildings empty...waiting for the day when someone will come and bring them back to life....

Cows taking a snooze............

The woodwork or "gingerbread" on so many of the building and houses in little towns are amazing.

But the main reason for this post is the house that is coming up.  I have been driving past this house for over 20 years and I have watched the yard "develop" as the years went by.....

Get ready!

Poppy took the first picture through the windshield as we were pulling up.  I was going to stop and go knock on the door this time...but chickened out...LOL  So over I pulled and rolled down the window to take some shots.  These people have "bottle trees"  I have always loved these trees..HA HA  Something about them tugs at my heart.

Can you say "Got Wine"?
I have always dreamed of having one or two at my house.
Wow...I think they are so neat.  Lets look around at some other things in the yard.  These people are collectors of "stuff"

Love, Love, Love the blue bottles!

Makes for an interesting yard!
Wouldn't you love to go exploring.......

I always wondered what "treasures" would be found inside!  I will miss driving down this road and looking at this family's treasures...I will not miss the 3 hour drive one way tho!

The main reason for the trip is this...

The place in Virginia has been........

Keep your eyes open...look at and enjoy your surroundings because you never know when you may not travel that road again......

Blessings,

MeMe Sue

Sneaky Trip....

Today while at work I took a little break (snuck out) went to rent a van for our Saturday trip to Virginia (our last one I hope), went to the bank and since I was so close to my GW store of course I had to pop in...I mean come on it's discount Wednesday...more bang for your buck right!

I'm going to share my finds from today at good ole GW.

There she is....isn't she AWESOME??  I went into the GW and walked right to the back where they keep all the in my opinion goodies.  I saw her sitting on the top shelf.  All gold and glittery...she's a big girl and heavy!  I picked her up, turned her around admiring all the little golden birds perched on her.  She was 8.00...should I pay that much?  I put her down and thought let me walk a bit.  I went into the next isle and saw the little ceramic bunny for a buck and snatched it up right away...then I decided to go back and get my golden treasure.  I walked to the end of the isle and thats when I saw her....in another lady's cart!  I sucked in my breath....deflated...beat down..heart broken.  How could I have left her on the shelf like that?

Oh well...I guess it wasn't meant to be with a tear running down my cheek!  So I strolled down the next isle and found this wooden pineapple (any clues?)

It has little holes all over it.  I thought it was cute tho...probably will paint it and yes that is a snowman spoon rest...hasn't found it's way back into storage yet.....

So with my two finds and a hurting heart I walked around the next bend...and what is sitting on the floor but my golden beauty...smiling at me...calling to me to take her home...I snatched her right up and lugged her right up to the register.

I LOVE her!!

I have no idea what I'm going to do with her.  Paint her yes....white? black?  Any suggestions?

While I was walking up to the register one of the workers said to me "Oh my...look at that...I'm going to open my register so I can look at that longer" (I thought that was a little goofy..but to each their own..right) One lady walked up to me while at the register and asked if I was going to buy her.  I kept my hand on my treasure.  Another lady came and admired my prize.  Mine, mine....all mine!!

So then my friendly cashier asked if I would be wanting a discount?  I qualified don't know how she even thought I was 55 or older (acutally won't be 55 until June) but I'll take it!  So my three treasures ended up being 8.00 and change!

Sweet bunny will get a gleaming coat of white paint.

What do you think...tooth pick holder?

I'm a very happy girl that I decided to take a little side trip on my lunch and find my lovely treasures.

Going with the flow......

Seems like everywhere I looked today someone was showing a cabinet or shelves with all their wonderful goodies on them so I thought I would give it a whirl also.

This is the top portion of my itty bitty china cabinet.  Boy do I have it crammed with all kinds of goodies tho....lets take a peek.

I've started decking it out with some Easter things.  The eggs are sitting in little cordial glasses.  The two crystal goblet are from Germany and are beautiful but that's all I really know about them they were my great Aunts.  The plate is super old and I'll feature the plates in a later post.

Here is a little bit of a better shot...can you see some of my little piggies...I have a thing for piggies!

This is the other side of the top shelf.  More crystal goblets and just stuff.  Little shot glasses that were my dads...nothing fancy but I treasure them.

Now these are most prized possesions.  You can see MeMe and Poppy and all my grands.  Do you count 7?  The baby laying down represent our newest addition who will arrive in early August.  We should find out in the next week or so if it's a girl or a boy...secretly wishing for a girl but 10 fingers 10 toes we'll take it.  I love Willow Trees and have quite a collection.

These are faux chocolate bunnies that I painted and set in the crystal glasses with grass...they look so cute.  Below them is one of two clay angels that my oldest daughter made when in school...those are the things I can never get rid of...and boy do I have some ugly beautiful pieces.

Different angle......

This is the right side of the bottom shelf.  Another hand made angel and a painted pluto on glass in the back...see the little cloche on the side...I have a flower sitting in both of them.

And this is the middle of the bottom shelf...sorry for the glare but the middle section does not open and I had to shoot through the glass.  Yes those are crystal pastel Christmas ball in the crystal bowl.  I always keep something of Christmas out year round...I'm silly that way.

Underneath the actual top part of the cabinet there is an open shelf and I have just a few things sitting on it.

Pretty soon this whole cabinet will be replaced by my Thrifted much huge larger china cabinet.

So there you have it...another portion of my collecting to share with everyone.

Blessings,

Sue
